GBA’s vision is that every building and community is healthy, efficient, resilient, and sustainable so that people and the economy can thrive.
Founded in 1993, GBA is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and one of the oldest regional green building organizations in the United States. As an authority on high-performance, energy efficient, sustainable design, GBA drives the market for healthy communities and strong economies while equipping designers, manufacturers, developers, contractors, and policymakers to catalyze systemic change in the way we design, build, and renovate our buildings.
GBA is working with Reading, Pa., to improve outdated local buildings and prepare them for the demands of the future. We recommend building practices that reduce energy needs, utility costs, and emissions; and enable entire communities to become more resilient to the effects of extreme weather, energy volatility, and emergency events. Collectively, this work strengthens local communities, making them more attractive to residents, families, and business owners, and to prospective investment.
