Event Description:

Difficult conversations are an unavoidable part of the workplace, but avoiding them often makes things worse. Whether addressing a concern, setting a boundary, giving feedback, disagreeing with a coworker, or simply saying "no," knowing how to communicate assertively can make challenging conversations much more productive.

In this interactive session, participants will explore practical strategies for approaching difficult conversations with greater confidence and clarity. They will learn how to communicate assertively while still respecting others, manage emotions when tensions rise, listen more effectively, and address issues without creating unnecessary conflict.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize the differences between passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive communication
  • Address concerns directly while maintaining positive working relationships
  • Set boundaries, make requests, and say "no" appropriately
  • Manage emotions and remain composed during challenging interactions
  • Give and receive feedback more effectively
  • Navigate disagreement and conflict with greater confidence

Difficult conversations do not have to turn into confrontations. When handled well, they can help solve problems, strengthen working relationships, and keep small issues from becoming bigger ones.
